Taking Twilight To A Different Level!!!

Sometimes I wondered if I was seeing the same things through my eyes that the rest of the world was seeing through theirs. - Bella Swan, Twilight.

I think it is safe to say that everyone seen the following head pieces the same way.  I just finished with the UCD Fashion Show, but during it we got so excited to see all the clothes and head pieces and all that jazz.  Even though everyones hair was UNBELIEVABLE, and I was in my element snapping pictures of everything, the Twilight hair pieces were the most impressive, I think everybody would agree?  They were VERY high fashion.  Also, the make up was SO cool.  I was so happy with mine.

Pretty AWESOME eh?  The girls had buns put in their hair first.  Then the brown layer of hair was hair pinned to the bun.  Then the blonde was merged into the brown.  Then a CRAZY design was done.

The Twilight Family

Now, the following photo is of me.  The make up as I said is so cool.  I did the hair myself because I felt I could style it to suit the Twilight theme.

Anybody else think this in UNREAL make up?  Credit to the make up artists.  They did such a GREAT job.

A Japanese Affair...

Hair brings one's self-image into focus; it is vanity's proving ground.  Hair is terribly personal, a tangle of mysterious prejudices.        ~ Shana Alexander

This time Lady GaGa was getting ready to make her STUNNING entrance to the 2011 Grammys.  She is such a legend and never fails to surprise me.  Dont get me started about Born This Way.  Some people dont like it but it is yet another new direction by Lady GaGa.

Her hair is always changing and I LOVE this style.  It is very Japanese on the top.  Its just the way it is cut.  But I'm not her to talk about Lady GaGa.

Monday morning, when I had GaGa's performance embedded into my head I seen this girl running towards the bus stop and she has so many things going on with her hair that I COULDN'T let her get away without a picture.

You can see the GaGa kind of style going on in the front and then the locks in the back.  Its like all Business at the front and party at the back.  Better still, her boyfriend does it for her.  She is in UCD so I was shocked that I have NEVER seen her.  I just think it is a stunning style.  I love when people just do a style based on what they like and not what is going on in society.  Im gonna suggest that people go crazy with their hair for spring.  Take on a fresh look.  Or even email me your photo and I'll try suggest something for you.

IN OTHER NEWS.....ALL my time has been taken up by the UCD Fashion Show.  But the clothes are AMAZING and the hair is going to be INCREDIBLE!!!!  Its all very exciting.  I think you all should come and watch us strut our stuff and join in on the excitement.

Your Hair Completes Your Outfit!!!

Life is an endless struggle full of frustrations and challenges, but eventually you find a hair stylist you like.

So the UCD Fashion Show is WELL on its way and I have to say that today was very, VERY stressful.  But who am I kidding?  I LOVE every moment of it.  I have met amazing people so far so I cant complain.  As I was watching the other groups rehears this woman walked into the hall.  I have never been so intimated by a woman that I have never talked too.  She had a beautiful fur coat on and big sunglasses on her head, along with black jeggins and black boats and a gold, vintage like, ring.  She just looked amazing.

I then learned that she, Roxanne Parker, is our stylist for the show.  Despite being struck with that beautiful coat, I could not help but look at her hair.  It was just SO simple.  It suited her look very well and allowed her outfit to stand out.  Its just such a fashionable look.

Like I said and as you can see, its SIMPLE.  Nothing to much.  Its just brushed back and then put into a small bun at the back.  Having seen Roxanne today, I am very excited to work with her.  All her work is very good.  Check it out on her website.  Like I said in past posts, your hair completes your outfit.

Sick Of The Wind And Rain???

I definitely do like change. I don't know if my hairstyles reflect that, but I don't like the same old thing all the time.
Cobi Jones.

Is anybody else praying that we dont get weather like we got today?  Both wind and rain together is horrible. I love them both when im trying to get to sleep and can hear them hitting off the window, but when im walking in it....not so much.  I walked out of my house today to go to college and I turned right back around because I could not stick it.  They dont do well for your hair, even if you used half the can of hairspray on it.

The weather got me thinking.  Seen as the rain is going to ruin anything you have done, why not where is flat? As a guy, I cant really pull off the flat hair look but other guys do it very well.  And sure if your gonna attempt a new look like this, why not add a bit of stubble into the equation to make you look even better.

This is the kind of image that I associate with this weather.  It just seems more fitting to wind and rain.  Gives off a nearly nice rough-led hair look.  Hugh Dancy, best known for his role in Confessions Of A Shopaholic,  is very suited to this image.

BUT.....I rather Chace Crawford from Gossip Girl.

I always loved his hair.  Im very jealous of it.  He pulls off the tousled top (Textured with a razor) so well.  Wanna know how to do it??

So you need to wash your hair, shampoo, condition, the whole lot.  Then towel dry it, but leave it kind of damp.  You can then get some styling product, I would not recommend gel.  Use something that is not going to make your hair look to wet.  Then, put the product in your hair beginning at your roots and working your way up.  When you have done this, blow dry your hair forward WHILE styling it to give it a tousled effect.  After that, just add some hairspray to hold the style and BAM...you might just look like Chace Crawford.  And you dont have to worry about your hair staying up the way you styled it.  Thanks for reading peeps.

As Crazy As Alice In Wonderland...

His hair stood upright like porcupine quills.
- Giovanni Boccaccio

We all know who she is.  We all hated her when we were younger because of her evilness but what CANT go unnoticed is her hair.  The quote above perfectly describes Cruella De Ville's hair.  It is almost like she stuck her finger in a socket to get the finished affect.  I love the two tones of color.  I would love to know how she achieved the white cause any time I have tried to get white it does not work out so well.  It just goes yellow.  But thankfully after loads of experiencing, I found out that a great deal of tinter after bleaching helps a lot.

People have attempted and failed at trying out this hairstyle.  Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie both tried it but it never really worked out.  To achieve this you would need a nylon brush and hairspray.  Take your hair and brush it up into the air while hair spraying it, this will help it stay up.  Maybe to help it rise, add some strong product.  I would recommend V05 Matt Clay.  Its such a hard style to achieve but if your up for it, then try it out and let me know how it went.

Now think of hazelnut brown, navy, black, blonde and some red.  And now think of Cruella De Ville as an influence?  What kind of hairstyle can you think of??  Think it could be done?  I did not think those colors would go together but I was proved wrong.

AMAZING right??  I bet you did not think it would be like this.  This hair grabs your attention for so long.  I got lost gazing at it.  I love all the colors in it.  Kay does all the colors herself which I found incredible.  It suits her image so well.  I love the way she added in a smaller version of a VICTORY ROLL.  The two BUNS on top also add to the endless adventure of this hairstyle.  The style reminds me of Alice In Wonderland for some  reason.  Its just so colorful and crazy, but in a good way.  Looking at Kay's hair, I can see the influence of Cruella De Ville.  She certainly did better than Victoria Beckham did.  See for yourself:

A New Direction...

"Theres Glitter In Your Hair"

Hey guys.  I have decided to bring this blog in a new direction, hence the makeover.  Recently I have cut my own hair and others hair and I found myself enjoying it.  Surprisingly I did not mess anything up.  So I was thinking that I want to experiment with people that are willing to let me cut their hair.  I shall give my advice on their hair and then suggest something new and see if your up for it.  I would love to experiment with your hair so drop me a email and we will talk.  Of course im not a hairdresser but I think that I have enough experience with my own hair to know what I am doing.  The blog will continue to do what it has been doing best by continuing to talk about many, many hairstyles.

Lady GaGa's new single "Born This Way" was released on Friday and I loved her eye make up on the single artwork so I had to give it a try.  Not quite as good though.  But anyway, My hair I did myself.  I did the undercut myself.  Also, I put the grey in myself and style it myself, varying from day to day.

Here we have Stephen from Stiches, Fabric and Soul.  Check out his blog.  Very intriguing, but not as good as mine of course.  I shall feature better photos of what I did later but for now these will be fine.  Its just to give you an idea.  Slightly different from the undercut is the "V cut".  Its the kind of hairstyle that you need to be confident cutting or else it wont be nice.  It suits him very well as I will show you in the near future.

the introduction to my new direction is now concluded, just thought I would let you all know.  Talk soon.

Don't We All Want More Hair To Mess With!!!

A celebrity is any well-known TV or movie star who looks like he/she spends more than two hours working on their hair.  ~Steve Martin

I have to say that I dont agree with Steve Martin on the above because what im about to talk about proves otherwise.  EXTENSIONS.....Everyone wonders what they would look like with longer hair and people always try to grow their hair to try and figure it all out, but extensions offer an easier but more expensive way out.  But we are not all suited to longer hair.  Also, extensions dont suit everyone and by that I mean women because lets face it....I haven't heard of any men getting them.  Have you?  I have seen a number of women with hair extensions and they suit some and not others.  Judging by the amount of money some celebrities have I would have thought that they could afford a good set of extensions but photos prove otherwise.  It may seem like im being mean in this post but im not.  Im just pointing out some celebrities failures towards their hair.

I am shocked and embarrassed for Fergie here.  The dead end of her hair are clearly visible without they being pointed out.  Extensions would have suit her because she has the character for them but this was just yet  another fail for Fergie.

We then have Britney Spears....

Like if I was her bodyguard, I would not let her leave the house like that.  Im not surprised she is hiding her head in shame here.  There was no need for her to get hair extensions in the first place.  Im thinking that she was so embarrassed by this disaster that she HAD to go shave her hair off.  BUT...we still love you Britney.  Just hurry up with the new album.

I LOVE Cheryl Cole, so when she got hair extensions I wasnt that worried because she is able to work them to suit her.  But then again, she has had times that they dont suit her.

I rather Cheryl with shorter hair as it suits her better.  I just think that she looks older with the longer hair and it doesn't suit her facial structure.

Having finished complain about the failures of these celebrities, I did find a woman that hair extensions suit quite well.  Im lucky enough to have pictures of the before and after stages of the procedure.  I would like to thank Redz hairdressers in Portlaoise for these.  I have to say that the longer hair suits this woman much more than the shorter hair does so FINALLY....a success.

Before:

After:

When I was in Spain a couple of years ago I heard that hair extensions was the hair from a horses tail and I wasnt impressed by that.  But these extensions are 100% real spainish hair, THANKFULLY.  She use to have the clip in extensions but they are to much hassle so she opted for the glued in extensions.  These are glued in from the ends of the original hair.  I might aswell tell you that this woman is my mother because that would explain a lot.

My mam is a hairdresser junkie so im thinking thats where I get it from.  She is obsessed with her hair so I definitely got that gene.  But back to the extensions....you can see for yourself that the extensions suit her.  They are not out of place and the color is even the same.  The length also suits her facial structure.  Extensions are only supposed to last around 3 months but if you look after them then you can get up to 8 months out of them.  But only expect to get up to 8 months out of them if you use a soft nylon brush on them because any other will be too hard on the extensions and possibly pull them out.  Once they are looked after, you can straighten and curl them, among others.  Also, when you wash them...its best to let them dry out themselves...the heat from a hair dryer can destroy the extensions completely.

IN OTHER NEWS.....I went home-home for the first time in like 5 weeks this weekend and I was spoiled of course but the following picture made my weekend and it has just put a huge smile on my face.  This is Buster...the third of my 3 King Charles.  He is ADORABLE.  Thanks for reading.

Rihanna's Influence...

Beauty draws us with a single hair.  ~Alexander Pope

There are many hairstyle icons out there, I mean the list is endless and hairstyles come and go just like fashion comes and goes but likewise, they always come back into fashion.  The CURLY FAUX HAWK is a style that is very much coming into style now even though it has been coming and going for the past couple of years, it just never stuck.  I couldn't come across the origins of the hairstyle and when I think of people with curls in their hair I just think of Marylin Monroe.  It certainly didn't come from her, so im going to credit Rihanna for this one.

The style reached the public eye through her video for "Rude Boy" and it caught on in the later stages of 2010.  It is such an interesting hairstyle.  Like you would not get bored of looking at it and you dont have to have long hair to achieve it.  How to achieve it will be at the end of this post.  I love curling my hair and messing with it but I haven't mastered a curler yet but I hope you have better luck if you do attempt it.  BUT....Make sure you have loads of volume in it.  I adore hair that has volume.  The shaved sides allow the curls on the top to stand out and it really shows how beautiful Rihanna is.  This is one of my favorite Hairstyles by Rihanna and its a shame she didn't keep it for long enough.

As you can see above, I didn't succeed so well at curling my hair but I shall keep trying.  The curly faux hawk is coming back into the music industry again and by somebody that I am not a huge fan of.  But thats just my opinion, but I will say that I quiet like her style in these photos.

Cher Llyod is not copying Rihanna completely but we see where see got her idea from.  I will give her credit for the simple fact that she has developed her hairstyle at the back for it to look like a full head mowhawk.  But she is not gonna get credit from me for her singing...anybody agree??  Rihanna has also had influence on people around Dublin.  Meadhbh supports Rihannas hairstyle very well.  She was influenced by the "Rude Boy" video and does the style herself, so credit goes to her for attempting it.  It suits her just as well as it did Rihanna.

SO.....do you want to attempt it??  I suggest you go for it.  What have you got to lose??  Check out the video below and see if you can do it.  I apologies for the bad quality of the video.  I would have made one myself but im sure I would have done something wrong and embarrassed myself.  Thank you for getting this far!!!
